Course Summary

Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) is defined by the UK Government as abusive activities which ‘can include being coerced into moving drugs or money across the country, forced to shoplift or pickpocket, or to threaten other young people’.

The term ‘county lines’ describe situations where children may be trafficked for the purpose of criminal exploitation (in cases of county lines, this is usually drug related but there are many other possible factors), leading to harm caused by various forms of child criminal exploitation, abuse and traumatic experiences.

This training course explains what CCE and county lines are and how these links into grooming, exploitation, trafficking and modern slavery.

The course considers which factors could influence children to become involved in CCE and county lines, ways children could be forced into CCE and county lines and discusses additional risks which children may be exposed to.

This training course discusses the grooming process or ‘line’, the types of activities which constitute child criminal exploitation and the indicators which may raise concerns that a child is being exploited and/or involved in CCE or county lines activity.

This training course clarifies the procedure which must be taken if concerns about a child’s involvement with CCE or county lines are raised and discusses proactive approaches in working to minimise the risk of harm to children.
