Course Summary

Data Protection is a legal requirement for every organisation including services supporting vulnerable children and young people where there are specific requirements relating to the sector which need to be met. Services need to demonstrate that measures have been taken to ensure data is protected, collected, stored, used and shared in a safe and legal way.

This training course identifies the meaning of data protection and how this specifically relates to children and young people’s services and continues to confirm the meaning of sensitive data, personal sensitive data, data users and processors amongst other terms.

This training course confirms legislative updates which came into effect in 2018 through the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and states how GDPR specifically relates to support services. This course also confirms the eight principles of the Data Protection Act (2018).

This training course considers safeguards which can be made in reducing the risk of a data breach by considering safe ways of storing, using and sharing data.

This course also confirms the action which should be taken and processes which should be followed in the suspected or actual occurrence of a data breach. This is a Level 3 accredited course.
