Due to some restrictions in access to classroom training, Ringway Training have made a number of our training courses available as self-directed learning courses to allow people who want to continue their professional development and achieve level 3 accredited certification.
Each of our courses have been accredited by OCN Credit4Learning and on successful completion, participants will receive a level 3 accredited certificate through the post.
How does self-directed learning work?
Self-directed learning means that learners complete their own research and studies into the subject/course of their choice and then complete a written assignment which is sent by email for assessment.
Participants are provided with course information and handouts which they are able to use as resources and also carry out their own research in order to complete the assignment.
Participants have three months to complete and submit their assignment from the date of commencement.
Step 1: Choose a course from the list (as few or as many as you like)
Step 2: Complete own study and research and use own experience to complete the assignment
Step 3: Submit the assignment by email for assessment
Step 4: Receive a level 3 accredited certificate on succesful completion
Who is self-directed learning good for?
Self-directed learning can work well for participants who;
- Have some existing knowledge of the subject matter and want to demonstrate their knowledge through an accredited course
- Are keen to develop their own knowledge and enjoy completing their own research (to complete the assignment)
- Want to continue their professional development whilst furloughed
- Are unable to access face to face classroom training but want to continue with their development
- Are motivated by research and assignment style learning (often a popular option for those who have experienced college or university styles of learning) and prefer to study alone or in small groups
In addition to this it can be empowering for managers and organisations to be able to continue to offer professional development to staff members whilst access to alternative types of accredited courses may be limited.
How much does it cost?
The fee for each course is only £59.00 which includes learning resources to accompany the subject and two submission attempts. We provide a discount for the ‘bulk’ purchase of courses/units (of any mixed type);
- Purchase of five courses/units at the same time = 10% discount
- Purchase of ten courses/units or more at the same time = 20% discount
Courses/units which are purchased in bulk do not need to be completed by the same participant – different participants can complete different courses/units.
If the first submitted assignment needs to be developed and resubmitted, the fee includes a second submission attempt and you will be provided with feedback from your tutor to support your second attempt.
Participants will receive feedback from the course tutor and will have continued access to email support. If a third or more submission is required, there is an additional fee of £40 per re-submission.
